#FORDREADLOCKS

Clean Locks is a must! Yeah, Sometimes you have to use a regular shampoo to get all the dirt out.  In that case, there are also natural options such as Bergamot or Argan shampoo when possible to get it... But what about before the use of commercial shampoo or when dreadlocked people  kept it more Natural. Like a  River wash with herbs and leaves.  I know about the use of Ripe Banana, Avocado, Young crushed Cacao as natural methods of washing dreadlocks. Hibiscus Leaves are another way to make a natural shampoo , aromatized with Rosemary. Aloe vera...
I present here this special mixture that I prepare to wash my dreads. Usually a  bright and sunny day also when the moon  is on a rise, It helps with growth. The rosemary leaves leave a long lasting aroma, also another hidden and under investigated benifit for the "head and whats inside of it! "
The mixture has to be thick and heavy, the liquid is prepared with about two handfuls of soft hibiscus leaves and about two long stalks of fresh Rosemary leaves. Use a bucket or deep and large bowl to crush leaves properly in 3/4 litre fresh water and then strain out the leaves. The liquid should be thick and slimy like crushed Aloe and have a dark brownish green colour.
Now apply by putting all your hair into the container and let it absorb as much as possible. by then your head should feel heavy haha. That's until you squeeze it all out and repeat again if you want. Now SHAKE SHAKE SHAKE , Foward, Sideways, Spin around, SHAKE YOUR NATTY RASTAMAN! but don't break your neck. Yeah, we say Natty for Locs too. Wool, Bongo, Crown..many names.
If the hair feels slimy after the shake slightly rinse with fresh water or use rosemary water to leave a stronger aroma and a cool texture.

STAGE II

STAGE III

If you are not sure about the Hibiscus plant that you have, Use Aloe but may need to be blended since crushing with hands is not the same as crushing a regular leaf.

Written by Danny E. for TuHerbicina.  If  you grew up in Dominica, born in the 80's/ 90's era, you probably  must have heard someone say " Plahteh good for eyes"....But have you ever tried it before? I keep making mention of my grandfather as one of my first teachers of natural medicine which is a fact and hence the reason why today I am still convinced that there is no better way than the natural way of healing. I remember him using the plant for his eyes . There are many uses and health benefits associated with Plantain , also known as Broadleaf Plantain , Greater Plantain , Scientific Name: Plantago Major L. , Llanten in spanish. A perennial plant of the Plantain Family - Plantiginaceae. Not the plantain that we cook and eat.  Although you can actually eat young leaves of the plantain herb as a salad.  This is one of the plants I did research on for my thesis on "Wild plants with medicinal properties" in Barinas, Venezuela, 2005, Where the people also ha...
